Team Overview
This team aims to form positive relationships and collaborations within the Sonoma Valley nonprofit and community services community to create safe and visible spaces that are supportive of the LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, Youth, disabled communities, and allies.
Key objectives would be to:
Create a podcast program for LGBTQIA+ youth, elders, disabled, and BIPOC communities to share stories of their experiences in order to bring greater connection and understanding, and visibility of their experiences in Sonoma as well as in society at large. Partner with Community Center, High School, Vintage House, La Luz, etc.
Research which books are most relevant to the issues we are experiencing in Sonoma, and develop possible book groups (in person and/or Zoom), podcasts
What are the current topics people want to know about, and put together educational meetings, and bring in speakers and or films. Partner with the Speaker Series in Sonoma or other speakers forums. Bring resources into Sonoma to minimize the isolation experienced in the Valley.
Use interpreters to advertise events, as well as at events, to enhance Latinx community participation.
SUMMARY OF POSITION: This is a volunteer, unpaid position
Wake UP Sonoma is looking for passionate and kind individuals who can dedicate their time, skills, and efforts in a voluntary capacity. As a Volunteer, you will participate in various initiatives on an action team, provide assistance to the team in developing programs for the community, and strategize with the team about how to implement each active initiative.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Contribute to various projects and community programs through meetings in person or on Zoom.
*Display a high level of dedication and commitment to the mission and tasks by taking on and carrying out commitments that move the effort forward.
*Work constructively in a team, and have the initiative to work independently
* Support the organization as an ambassador in the community by carrying forward the message of the vision and mission of Wake UP Sonoma.
*Attend and participate in events planned to move the effort forward
LEADS:
The person who takes on the team lead for these committees will have the following tasks
Oversight of the work of the Committee
Call meetings, and track progress for outcomes toward identified initiatives
Assign various roles to those on the committee, eg, note taking, putting progress up on the website blog page, making calls or sending emails for contacts, etc.
Report out to the President and/or Board of Wake UP Sonoma as needed
