Local Business Liaison Team

Team Overview

This team aims to form positive relationships and collaborations within the Sonoma Valley business community to better promote them as supportive of the LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, Youth, and disabled communities with the end goal of encouraging engagement with these businesses. 

Key objectives would be to:

  • Develop partnerships with youth artists and art organizations to design recognizable and vibrant symbol(s) of DEI support that can be displayed on store windows if ratified as Inclusive, by using established criteria TBD. 

  • Engage the Chamber of Commerce in a campaign to encourage business support of DEI practices.

  • Develop a survey the community can weigh in on as to businesses that display support for DEI and share that information within the community. 

  • Lead person to establish a strong relationship of trust within the business community with Wake UP Sonoma

Focus on inclusion of Latinx and black-owned and operated businesses

SUMMARY OF POSITION:  This is a volunteer, unpaid position

Wake UP Sonoma is looking for passionate and kind individuals who can dedicate their time, skills, and efforts in a voluntary capacity.  As a Volunteer, you will participate in various initiatives on an action team, provide assistance to the team in developing programs for the community, and strategize with the team about how to implement each active initiative. 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

*Contribute to various projects and community programs through meetings in person or on Zoom. 

*Display a high level of dedication and commitment to the mission and tasks by taking on and carrying out commitments that move the effort forward. 

*Work constructively in a team, and have the initiative to work independently

* Support the organization as an ambassador in the community by carrying forward the message of the vision and mission of Wake UP Sonoma.

*Attend and participate in events planned to move the effort forward

LEADS:

The person who takes on the team lead for these committees will have the following tasks

  1. Oversight of the work of the Committee

  2. Call meetings, and track progress for outcomes toward identified initiatives

  3. Assign various roles to those on the committee, eg, note taking, putting progress up on the website blog page, making calls or sending emails for contacts, etc. 

  4. Report out to the President and/or Board of Wake UP Sonoma as needed
